| Other than being a TBM Yellow Cap and
Security training, the general qualification required to be a member of the
Security Unit as a PATROL member is that you are able to walk on patrol for
several hours at a time. While there is ample time for breaks, most patrol
members can expect to walk a patrol beat for a minimum on four hours and as
long as 12 hours. The number of available members that respond to any
disaster relief event will determine the number of members allocated to a
patrol shift and the length of time of each shift.
No one may be a member of the TBM Security Unit if they have been
convicted of any crime greater than a class B misdemeanor. Prospective
members may be asked to provide a valid criminal history to verify that they
qualify to be a member of the Security Unit. Other restrictions may apply.
Members will be expected to sign a waiver of liability when involved in
any Security Unit activity. Members are advised to maintain individual
health coverage for health related injuries sustained as a result of their
participation in the TBM Security Unit.
The function of patrol members is to provide security for our TBMDR
volunteers with security at the disaster event staging site, provide
security to the equipment each TBMDR unit brings to the disaster event, and
to provide security for the food products the feeding unit may have to store
outside in otherwise unguarded areas. |
